If you’re planning on making a weekend of it, here are a few of our recommendations.

The wedding itself is taking place in Stamford Bridge. The village has been on the map for centuries. The Romans settled here nearly 2,000 years ago, and in 1066 it was the site of the Battle of Stamford Bridge, where King Harold defeated the Viking army before marching south to face the Normans at Hastings. Today it’s a charming place with riverside walks, a historic bridge, and friendly pubs.

Pickering is the town Tom grew up in and makes a great base for exploring. It's full of cosy pubs, independent shops, and provides easy access to the surrounding countryside. The Steam Railway departs from the bottom of town for a scenic ride through the countryside to Whitby.

Dalby Forest

Dalby Forest is perfect for a walk among the trees or a spot of mountain biking. There's also a Parkrun each Saturday if you're feeling energetic on the morning of the wedding.

The North York Moors offer trails with stunning views, and for a truly memorable pint, there's a pub on Blakey Ridge, one of the highest in the area.

The Buck in Thornton Dale

If you'd like a more chilled walk, visit Thornton Dale. There are lovely strolls along the beck and plenty of ice cream parlours along the way. Be sure to stop at The Buck for a Timmy Taylor's or Black Sheep.

We hope you enjoy Yorkshire as much as we do!
